During the Coronavirus pandemic Right to Work checks had to be carried out virtually or by providing scanned documents to the employer. During 30th March 2020 to 16th May 2021 the Home Office accepted checks this way as the Governments advice was to minimise contact.
From 17th May 2021 The Home Office has confirmed that Right to Work checks need to be conducted in person again.
There has been no advice that employers are to carry out retrospective checks of those completed during the coronavirus-adjusted check.
