For two years in a row employees have gained an additional bank holiday. To celebrate the coronation of King Charles III we have been awarded another bank holiday on May 8th in lieu of the coronation which takes place on Saturday 6th May 2023.
Employment contracts should be referred to in order to check holiday entitlements. There isn't a legal obligation to provide paid leave off, and the extra entitlement may need to come out of the employees leave. Wording of the employment contract is crucial and should be checked in advance and any issues should be communicated to employees.
